Tucson Man Shot, Killed During Juvenile Brawl

A Tucson man, Travon Lewis Lavender, age 35, was shot and killed after he and his girlfriend were attacked by a group of juveniles.

On March 8, 2021, at approximately 8:30 p.m., several 911 calls were received by the Tucson Police Department reporting a shooting at an apartment complex located at 1800 S. Pantano Road. Officers responded to the apartment complex and located several witnesses in the parking lot.

Officers were told Mr. Lavender had been driven to Tucson Medical Center with life-threatening injuries by a neighbor.

Detectives learned from witnesses that there was a disagreement between two sets of juveniles that occurred earlier in the day, according to the Tucson Police Department. Because of the disagreement, the first group of juveniles arrived to the apartment complex to confront the second group. Once at the apartment complex, the first group of juveniles located the mother of one of juveniles from the second group. The group began assaulting the mother and Mr. Lavender.

Detectives believe Mr. Lavender was shot during the physical confrontation.
