Cottonwood Police Suspect Fentanyl Source In Three Overdoses In One Day

Cottonwood — On Tuesday, Cottonwood Police Department officers responded to three separate overdose incidents. Officers responded to the scene of three male subjects at different locations within five hours.

All three overdose victims were revived with the use of Naloxone.

According to Cottonwood Police, the first overdose occurred in the 800 block of E. Cherry Street, and involved a 33-year-old man. The second location was in the 1000 block of S. Viejo Drive and involved a 19-year-old man. The third incident, a 37-year-old man, was brought into Verde Valley Medical Center Emergency Department under suspicion of a drug overdose. Naloxone was administered to this person as well.

Police say there is no indication that the three victims know each other or that the incidents are related. The substance or substances that led to the overdoses is unknown, and has not been verified but it is suspected to have been fentanyl.

The Cottonwood Police Department forwarded the information related to the overdoses to the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking Task Force for further follow-up.
