Ducey Calls Harris “Worst Possible” Choice To Address Border Crisis

Vice President Kamala Harris laughed when a reporter asked if she would visit the border.

PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey did not mince his words on Wednesday when asked what he thought of the announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris would be leading the White House effort to address the crisis on U.S. – Mexico border.

“She’s about the worst possible choice that one could make,” Ducey said. “At no point in her career has she given any indication that she considers the border a problem or a serious threat.”

In fact, the Vice President came under criticism this week when she laughed off a reporter’ question about when she would be visiting the border.

“If President Biden’s intent was to show that he’s taking this issue seriously, he’s really done the exact opposite here,” explained Ducey. “He’s completely trivialized this issue by putting someone in charge who flat out just doesn’t care.”

Rep. Debbie Lesko was equally critical of Harris’ comments. “First, the Biden Administration refused to admit the situation at the border is a crisis, NOW Kamala Harris thinks this is a laughing matter,” tweeted Lesko. “It isn’t a laughing matter for the border communities being deluged by illegal immigrants.”

President Biden stunned people on both sides of the political aisle when he announced Harris’ new role during a meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandra Mayorkas at the White House on Wednesday.

“I have asked her, the VP,” said President Biden, “because she is the most qualified person to do it, to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border.”

Both Biden and Harris have denied the situation on the border is a crisis despite the fact that over 15,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) have entered the country in recent weeks. The surge has caused border officials to hold the illegal immigrants in inadequate facilities that have become unsanitary as a result.
