A man who shot at a person in another vehicle in an alleged case of road rage in March is now in custody. Erik Engdahl was booked into jail April 29, 2021 on charges including Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Endangerment and Criminal Damage.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) detectives arrested the 70-year-old Engdahl in connection with last month’s road rage incident that occurred on Walker Road near the South Shore entrance to Lynx Lake.

According to YCSO, Over the last few weeks tips from the public and evidence obtained during the investigation allowed detectives to identify Engdahl. Authorities also discovered the appearance of Engdahl’s was changed since the incident and it was moved to a home in Las Vegas in an apparent attempt to prevent law enforcement from connecting him to the incident.

Investigators served two warrants, one at a home in Las Vegas and the other at a home in Prescott. They seized Engdahl’s vehicle along with firearms, ammunition, vehicle accessories and other evidence that placed Engdahl in the area the day of the shooting.

“This is another example of dedication and perseverance of Sheriff’s deputies to bring justice to a violent offender and bringing peace to the victim. I’m grateful for the public’s help and our investigator’s hard work and determination to bring this case to a close,” said Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes.
