Maricopa Police End Standoff Safely With Man Threatening To Shoot Neighbors

A tense standoff ended safely on Friday, August 13 in Maricopa.

According to the Maricopa Police Department, at about 7:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 41000 block of W. Sunland Dr. in Maricopa in response to a report of a man, James Brent Gallup, threatening neighbors with a gun. When officer’s arrived on the scene, several gun shots were heard and officers called in the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Regional Swat team.

The SWAT team surrounded the house and neighbors were safely evacuated.

The standoff lasted several hours. At around 3:00 p.m., Chandler SWAT arrived on scene to relieve the PCSO Regional SWAT Team. SWAT team members were able to make entry into the home. Upon their entry, they found the 59-year-old Gallup on the roof. Gallup came down and complied with officers.

Gallup will be charged with multiple criminal charges and was booked and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
