TUCSON, AZ – A State Grand Jury indicted a Tucson man, Kenneth Russell Nelson, on one count of False Registration and three counts of Illegal Voting, for illegally registering to vote and casting a vote while he was an inmate at the Pima County Jail.

According to the indictment, the 45-year-old Nelson “knowingly completed a voter registration form which stated in pertinent part “I am NOT a convicted FELON or my civil rights are restored” when in fact he had been convicted of Aggravating Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor While License is Suspended, Canceled, Revoked, or Refused, a Class Four felony, in Pima County Superior Court on September 28, 2007, with his right to vote not having been restored after September 28, 2007.

Nelson is purported to have voted in the 2018 primary and general elections, and in the 2020 general election.

Nelson’s next court appearance is a pre-trial conference before Judge Brenden Griffin in Pima County Superior Court on November 8, 2021, at 9:00am.
