The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for prayers for Deputy Juan M. Ruiz’s family and loved ones.

Deputy Ruiz was attacked on Saturday night by Clinton Robert Hurley. Hurley escaped only to be shot later by a homeowner he was attempting to rob.
Hurley, exchanged gunfire with the home owner with whom he was familiar. Police were made aware of a shooting at around 6:30 p.m. and found the Hurley near the home in the area of 373rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Ruiz’s family will be donating his organs.
