As expected, on Wednesday morning the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors picked Thomas Galvin to replace Steve Chucri as the supervisor for District 2. Galvin was sworn in later in the day.
The Board had weeded out pro-transparency candidates, choosing Galvin who was considered someone unlikely to rock the boat.
Galvin is a local attorney with expertise in land use and water issues. In his work as a lawyer, he has worked with legislators and other decision makers at the local, state, and federal levels.
Galvin is a long-time “establishment” Republican:

Chucri resigned in November after being caught in secret recordings discussing his fellow supervisors’ fears about the 2020 General Election outcome.
Galvin will serve in this position until the person elected in the November 2022 General Election is sworn in.
