A 26-year-old Arizona man who admitted to sexually assaulting a woman at a Laughlin resort and casino on the Fort Mohave Indian Reservation was sentenced today to eight years and four months in prison.

According to court documents, on September 24, 2018, Richard Anthony Hernandez punched a woman multiple times before sexually assaulting her. As a result of the assault, the victim — a Native American — suffered multiple facial abrasions and contusions, bleeding from head injuries, and loss of consciousness with a concussion, all of which required medical treatment at a hospital.

Hernandez pleaded guilty in October 2020 to one count of aggravated sexual abuse. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Richard F. Boulware II sentenced Hernandez to 15 years of supervised release.
