On Monday, in a fiery interview on 550 KFYI’s James T. Harris Show, senatorial candidate Retired Major General Mick McGuire called on Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich to release documents related to a disciplinary action taken by the Arizona State Bar against Brnovich and his staff.

On Friday, Brnovich issued a statement that complaints made against him and investigated by the Arizona State Bar had been resolved via agreement and that he would be entering a diversion program to address unethical conduct. Because the complaint involved several staff members, the details of the Bar action which is essentially a plea agreement, are confidential according to the Arizona Daily Independent’s legal experts. However, Brnovich could opt to make them public.

McGuire believes the citizens deserve to know more about the resolution of unethical behavior allegations and any mandated corrective action related to public officials, particularly from the person who currently is the chief law enforcement officer for the State.

“I call upon Attorney General Brnovich to release all documents relevant to the State Bar investigation and its findings as soon as possible,” said McGuire in a press release. “If you did nothing wrong, then there is no need to resolve allegations or correct behavior determined to be unethical. The public has a right to know. We do not need to be sending more unethical people to DC; there are enough of those already there.”

“Mr. Brnovich wants you to trust him despite the fact the Arizona State Bar determined he needed some ‘undisclosed’ corrective action because of some ‘undisclosed’ misdeeds while serving as the AG. Release the records now, Mr. Brnovich,” demanded McGuire.

“It is bad enough that Mr. Brnovich finds ways to evade public debate over the issues that will face our country over the next few years,” said McGuire referring to the fact that Brnovich skipped the first major debate of the race for the US Senate on Saturday. “He regularly makes it on TV, but apparently cannot fit public debate into his schedule or actually engage with real voters. He asks you to trust him without having to defend his record, unethical behavior, or face other tough questions. Now he wants you to trust him regarding his performance as AG, but you cannot know details about his misconduct.”
