The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who died in an off-road vehicle accident as Kurt Langland, age 67, of Yuma.

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an off-road vehicle rolling down a ravine on BLM land northwest of Adair Range.

The initial investigation revealed that a group of off-road vehicles were traveling on rugged mountainous trails when, according to a witness, one of the off-road vehicles, a red Honda SXS 1000, ran off the narrow trail while negotiating a turn. The vehicle came to a stop and the driver, Mr. Langland, exited the vehicle. As the vehicle started to roll down a steep ravine, he jumped back into the vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicle continued to descend approximately 300 feet down into the ravine causing him to be ejected and fatality injured.

This case remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
