Phoenix Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night near 36th Street and Indian School Road that left a 16-year-old dead.
Investigators learned a Ford Mustang was travelling east on Indian School Road at a high rate of speed, and collided with a Honda Accord that was attempting to turn left onto 36th Street. As a result of the collision, the Honda was pushed into a traffic signal pole.
There were three occupants in the Mustang, and two of them were ejected from the vehicle. 16-year-old Tomas Villaverde died from his injuries. The two other occupants, a 17-year-old driver and another 16-year-old, received serious but non-life-threatening injuries. It is believed speed on the driver’s behalf was a contributing factor to this collision.
There was one occupant in the Honda, a 50-year-old male. He suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver displayed signs of alcohol impairment.
The investigation is ongoing.
