Salt River Pima-Maricopa Fire Department EMT Killed In Crash Identified

On Saturday, the Globe Fire Department identified the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Fire Department ambulance driver, Brendon Bessee, who was killed Friday after being struck by a semi-truck along State Route 87, between McDowell and Gilbert Roads in Mesa.

Tyler Packer has been identified as the EMT, who was critically injured in the wreck, according to tribal President Martin Harvier.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the driver of the tractor-trailer rig, who was identified only as a woman, had minor injuries.

The ambulance turned onto the highway while responding to a non-emergency call.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
