A Man Points Replica Gun Towards Another Man, Gets Shot And Killed By Real Gun

A verbal fight between two men erupted into a shooting at a central Phoenix gas station on Sunday. The victim pointed a replica handgun at another male, and that male shot the victim with the real deal.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officer were called to the area of Camelback Road and Black Canyon Highway about a person shot at around 5 a.m. When they got there, they found 31-year-old Sergio Cruz suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers provided first aid until the fire department arrived. Cruz was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect remained on scene and was detained with no incident.

Officers learned Cruz was confronting the suspect regarding a dispute with his loved one. During the confrontation, Cruz points a replica airsoft gun at the male. The male responds by pulling out a handgun and shot Cruz.

Investigators responded to the scene to gather evidence, talk with witnesses and look for possible surveillance. The investigation remains active. No arrests have been made at this time.
