On Wednesday, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a man for two counts of failing to register as a sex offender following his arrest in May on two outstanding warrants.

SVPD detectives arrested 61-year-old Sierra Vista resident David Allen Sullivan while he was in custody of the Cochise County Jail. Sullivan was taken into custody after being arrested on May 4, 2022, for two separate warrants related to dangerous drugs and weapons possession. The warrants stemmed from arrests made by SVPD in April and June of 2021.

An investigation by the SVPD Sex Offender Unit discovered Sullivan had moved from the address he had registered with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office in January 2022. He was required by state law to register his new address with the sheriff’s office as part of the sex offender registration requirements for a prior conviction of a sex offense.

ARS 13-3821 outlines the requirements for registering as a sex offender in the state of Arizona. SVPD diligently monitors those sex offenders registered within the City or those who have failed to properly register who are residing in the City and enforce the standards set forth in the statute.
