I just read that President Biden signed into law the CHIPS and Science Act, which should benefit AZ’s large semiconductor industry. I really was pleased to see that Congress is actually passing bills that are making it into law. Beyond all the bickering, they need to at least concentrate on the important things that share bipartisan support.
One bill in particular deserves their attention, the Open App Markets Act. This bill seeks to reverse some of the unfair practices by the big tech platforms against the independent small and medium sized app developers. High fees, promoting their own apps over those of the developers, capricious standards to get an app approved and other actions by big tech stifle competition and cost us all in the end.
I hope Congress keeps their eye on the ball and pass this critical bill sooner rather than later.
