Two Pima County Jail inmates unsuccessfully faked overdoses in a bizarre escape plan.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, on October 11th, at approximately 9:45 a.m., inmates 31-year-old Shaun Busch, and 26-year-old Roger Rios were transported from the Pima County Jail to a local-area hospital for a suspected overdose.

It was discovered that the two had not actually overdosed, and it had been a ruse in order to escape once at the hospital. The information was quickly passed to the transport units.

While at the hospital, Rios attempted to jump off his bed and exit his room, however, he was immediately apprehended by corrections officers. Busch was not able to attempt escape due to the increased law enforcement presence at the hospital.

Both inmates were transported back to the Pima County Jail where they were both charged with felony escape in the second degree.
