Arizona is home to some of the biggest teams in American sport, and with a population of over seven million, the state has countless sports fanatics who loyally follow their favorite team – whether it’s the Suns, Cardinals or Coyotes. But who are officially the most popular in the Copper State, and does this change by city?
A new study from BetArizona.com determined Arizona’s most popular teams by analyzing the number of Google searches each team received over the last 12 months, calculated the average monthly volume and ranked the top 15 franchises.
The results revealed that, by far the most searched for team in Arizona is the NBA’s Phoenix Suns. The Suns are followed by the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals in second place and MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks in third. American College football team Arizona Wildcats came in fourth place, and the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes in fifth.

Interestingly, the data also shows the Suns are the most searched-for team in every state, apart from Tucson, whose residents are searching for the Arizona Wildcats the most, at 53,600 searches per year.
