Detectives Release Sketch Of Victim Whose Body Was Set On Fire

Phoenix Police Department detectives have released a composite sketch of the unidentified man that was found set on fire near the area of 9th Avenue and Buchanan Street.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Thursday December 1, 2022, at about 3:00 p.m., officers in the area saw what appeared to be smoke from a fire. Officers located a small fire which they promptly extinguished. After the fire was put out, they saw what appeared to be an adult male body severely burned.

The remains were turned over to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death and identification. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

The victim is described as a Black male, 20-60 years old, 5’8”, 130 pounds. He was wearing a possibly dark color hooded sweatshirt, unknown pants/shorts and tennis shoes.
