Jared Clark Brown was supposed to appear in a Cochise County courtroom this week to finalize a plea deal in connection with weapons charges for a 2021 shooting that sent bullets whizzing across a busy Circle K parking lot and into two apartment units.

Instead, Brown appeared before a judge to be arraigned on new felony charges for an arrest three days earlier on suspicion of DUI with a restricted license. He was also ordered held in the county jail on a temporary no-bond order because the new charges occurred while Brown was out of custody pending resolution of weapons charges.

Records show Brown, 36, has been ordered back to the courtroom of Judge Joel Larson on Jan. 17 to see if the plea agreement can be salvaged. If an agreement is not reached at that time, Deputy County Attorney Raymond Haight will request Larson issue a permanent no-bond order.

Brown was taken into custody in October 2021 after a gunfight broke out when Edwardo Antonio Roman Jr. drove into the Circle K on Garden Avenue where several members of the Nomaden Motorcycle Club were parked.

Roman exited the vehicle, then approached a few of the motorcyclists and urinated in their presence. One of the motorcyclists was Brown.

There was a brief scuffle before Roman returned to his vehicle and started to drive away. That is when gunfire erupted, strewing numerous shell casings in the parking lot and down a side street.
