The Sahuarita Police Department has identified the victim of a murder suicide as 82-year-old Janet Johnson.
According to the Sahuarita Police Department, on January 12, 2023, at about 1:03 p.m., officers received a 9-1-1 call reporting a homicide in the 1300 block of W. Via Cerro Colorado. Officers responded to the residence and immediately entered, finding Mrs. Johnson and her husband, 78-year-old Mark Johnson, shot. Rural Metro Fire Department also responded and pronounced the couple deceased at the scene.
The investigation thus far has shown that Mr. Johnson shot his wife, called 9-1-1- and reported that he said he “murdered my wife” and then took his own life.
The Sahuarita Police Department has not had any prior responses to their residence.
