Phoenix police detectives are investigating a collision that took the life of 27-year-old Irene Lujan.
Officers responded to the area of 47th Avenue and Indian School Road to investigate the involving two vehicles in the earlier morning hours of January 14, 2023. When officers arrived, they found Ms. Lujan unresponsive trapped inside a vehicle. Phoenix Fire personal responded and later pronounced her deceased.
Investigators arrived on scene and learned that the vehicle operated by Ms. Lujan was making a westbound turn onto Indian School Road from 47th Avenue with what witness say was a red light. The second vehicle, driven by an adult male struck the victims vehicle while he was driving eastbound on Indian School Road.
The driver of the second vehicle stayed on scene and was evaluated for impairment. Investigators did not see any signs of intoxication from the driver. No arrest was made.
