A 14-year-old is in custody after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle.
According to the Glendale Police Department, on January 27, 2023, just after 12:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of 5400 W Dailey St. for a report of a stolen vehicle. It was learned the victim’s 2021 red Kia Sportage had been stolen from the parking lot.
After taking the initial report, an officer was driving down 51st Ave when he observed a red Kia Sportage driving northbound. He made a U-turn and observed the license plate was a match for the victim’s stolen vehicle. A high-risk stop was initiated on the vehicle and the officer discovered the driver was a 14-year-old.
The juvenile was booked on one count of Theft of Means of Transportation.
