More Human Remains Found On South Mountain By Phoenix Police Detectives

crime scene notice

More bones have been discovered after Phoenix detectives went into action when a hiker found a human skull in the South Mountain Preserve earlier this month.

Inspection of the skull showed what appeared to be trauma resulting in detectives with the Phoenix Homicide Bureau taking over the investigation.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, detectives are conducting an evidentiary search in portions of South Mountain Park and Preserve. This area will be shut down until the search is complete.

Detectives are actively following up on all leads and will continue to work with the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office and Missing persons Detectives to identify the victim and any suspect responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department, or Silent Witness (480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish Speakers).
