Scottsdale Man Indicted In PPP Loan Scheme

A State Grand Jury has indicted a Scottsdale man, Randy Steven Kaas, for numerous crimes involving fraudulent schemes alleged to have occurred between June 1, 2020, and June 1, 2021.

On January 30, 2023, the state grand jury charged Kaas with fourteen counts consisting of Fraudulent Schemes & Artifices, Forgery, and Theft, in Maricopa County Superior Court involving $3,715,276.50 of federal Paycheck Protection Program loans.

According to the Scottsdale Progress, Kaas operated a a satirical anti-Hillary Clinton website that was among Scottsdale entities that received the loans. The website used a portion of its earnings to support Republican political candidates.

The Scottsdale Progress reported that the website, imabovethelaw.com, sold “parody coupon books for $13.99 with titles like “Hillary Exception,” “Hillary’s Dirty Dozen” and “Motor Mouth Maxine – a reference to Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who is depicted on the cover.”
