Suspect Arrested After Phoenix Police Officer Injured In Hit And Run Crash

Phoenix Police detectives have identified the driver of the vehicle involved, which hit a police patrol car, as 21-year-old Marlon De Jesus Hernandez.

Hernandez was booked on multiple charges stemming from the collision.

The injured officer remains hospitalized and continues to receive treatment for injuries.

The incident occurred early in the morning of March 15. At that time, Phoenix police officers responded to a call of a serious vehicle collision involving a police patrol car at 40th Street and Oak Street. Officers were advised over the radio that the police officer was trapped inside the car. The Phoenix Fire Department extricated the officer from the police car. The officer was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

During the collision, the adult male driver and two adult male passengers of the other vehicle took off on foot from the vehicle but were eventually located and detained. The driver suffered injuries from the collision and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
