On March 27, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Chandler police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of N. Santa Ana St. When officers arrived, they found a female victim with non-life-threatening injuries, and she was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect was identified as her ex-boyfriend, Alan Burgener, age 40. The shooting occurred after a physical altercation between Burgener and the victim, which resulted in a gun discharging and injuring the victim.

Bergener fled the residence and soon after broke into a nearby apartment, and stole the vehicle from unrelated victims. The vehicle he stole and is believed to still be in, is a 2017 silver Ford Mustang convertible with a black top bearing Washington State plates of BHF3410.

Past police contacts with Burgener have been for assault, domestic violence, disorderly, conduct, trafficking of stolen property, and multiple narcotics related offenses. He is a known drug user, and currently does not have any permanent residence. He has family ties in contacts in the city of Mesa.

Detectives are actively looking for Burgener and ask that if he is seen, please call 911 and do not attempt to contact him, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
