In mid-April 2023, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on a Correctional Health Services-Mental Health employee regarding inappropriate sexual behaviors with at least one inmate.
The suspect was identified as Dan Gordon and was immediately placed on leave while Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) detectives conducted the criminal investigation.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Gordon’s home. Prior to entering the home, it appears as though the suspect took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
At the request of the Sheriff, the Phoenix Police Department will conduct the death investigation.
Gordon started with Maricopa County Health Services in 2021.
