PHOENIX – Liberty Health and Alliance is hosting a three-day free medical clinic through Friday at the Phoenix Convention Center. It’s the second year for the “mega clinic,” where a variety of services are being offered. They include back-to-school physicals; heart, lung and bone evaluations; full dental checks; pharmacy and laboratory services; vision care with free glasses; well-woman tests, and surgeries under local anesthesia for ailments such as carpal tunnel.

“Anyone can come to this temporary mobile hospital for help with whatever they need” on a first-come, first-served basis, said Dr. Lela Lewis, president and CEO of Liberty and Health Alliance, a Phoenix nonprofit ministry founded by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The clinic is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday. They expect to serve 2,000 patients throughout the three days.

David Vegay, a patient who attended the clinic, said he felt privileged to get the medical care he normally could not afford.
