18-Year-Old Peoria Home Intruder Dead

Peoria Police officers are investigating a deadly shooting of an 18-year-old intruder.

According to the Peoria Police Department, on August 7, at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting located at 12050 W. Duane Lane, in Peoria. The caller said a known suspect was inside shooting.

Detectives believe four subjects arrived at the residence, and one of them entered without permission. An altercation took place between the residents and the suspect inside the home. This altercation resulted in gunfire being exchanged and the suspect was shot, and later died on scene.

The suspect who died has been identified as 18-year-old Ryan Garcia, of Peoria.

Two subjects attempted to leave the area in a white Toyota Corolla. As officers were arriving on scene, they located the involved vehicle and stopped it before they could leave the neighborhood. The subjects inside the vehicle were detained. A third subject was located nearby and detained. All subjects were later interviewed at the Peoria Police Department and released.

At this time, no charges have been submitted.

The investigation is ongoing.
