Rear-End Collision Leaves Pedestrian On Sidewalk Dead

Phoenix police are investigating a collision that left a pedestrian dead. One driver remained on scene and a possible second vehicle left the area.

Phoenix police officers responded to a serious collision involving a pedestrian near 35th Avenue and Washington Street. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with obvious signs of trauma. A vehicle involved was stopped to the north and the driver of that vehicle remained on scene. The fire department responded and later pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

Detectives responded to investigate the collision and spoke to the driver of the vehicle. The driver told detectives he was rear-ended by another vehicle which caused his car to lose control and strike the pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk. The second vehicle involved left the scene after the collision.

No arrests have been made and the driver of the vehicle was released.
