A 22-year-old man, Angel Lopez Garcia, was arrested on Thursday in connection with a deadly crash that left three people dead in Phoenix.

Lopez Garcia was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including murder. Speed and alcohol were factors in this collision.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a serious vehicle collision near Thunderbird Road and Black Canyon involving three vehicles and a Camaro. The Camaro was engulfed in flames.

The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.

A passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Esteban Espinoza Lopez, was extricated from the car and transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver, Lopez Garcia, was able to exit the vehicle before it burst into flames and was detained on scene.

A red Chevrolet Traverse involved in the collision was found next to the Camaro. Inside the SUV, fire crews found the driver, 54-year-old Majid Al Juhaishi, unresponsive and with serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Near the collision a woman, later identified as 41-year-old Tessa Jeffrey, was found on the roadway. Jeffrey was provided medical aid but died from her injuries on scene.

Officers later learned she was a passenger in the Traverse and was ejected. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

A black Subaru was also involved in the collision and was occupied by a man and a woman. Both occupants were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They were treated and released from the hospital.

Detectives learned the Camaro was westbound on Thunderbird Road when it ran the red light at the I-17 Southbound Access and collided with the Traverse, which was heading south on the I-17 Southbound Access Road. After the initial impact, the Traverse then collided with the black Subaru, which was stopped for a red light at Thunderbird Road and the I-17 Access Road, facing east.
