Woman Killed, 2 Hospitalized In Phoenix Collision

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a west valley collision that left a woman, Edna Villa, dead and two others in the hospital.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on September 14, 2023, around 8:00 a.m. officers responded to the area of 78th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road regarding a collision which resulted in multiple injuries. When officers and the Phoenix Fire Department arrived, they located three occupants with serious injuries. Both drivers, an adult female and adult male, were transported to local hospitals where they are still currently receiving treatment. Both are expected to survive.

The passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as the 27-year-old Villa, was transported with life-threatening injuries. She did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives believe that the vehicle where Villa was a passenger, made a left turn in front of the other vehicle involved in the collision. Determination of fault will be determined through accident reconstruction which will be done by investigators.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
