Phoenix police are investigating a shooting that occurred sometime late last night and early Sunday morning that left two men dead in a possible murder-suicide.

Phoenix police responded to a shooting call at a residential home near 40th Street and Sweetwater Avenue. The caller stated her husband was shot inside her home and told 911 operators she believed he was shot by her son. As officers arrived, they found a man deceased inside a vehicle, parked in the driveway. The woman came out to officers and confirmed her husband was shot and was unresponsive inside their home.

The woman expressed concerns there might be hazards inside the residence. Officers from the Tactical Support Bureau responded and were able to confirm the man inside the home was deceased and there were no hazardous items found in the home.

Homicide detectives responded to process the crime scene and speak to witnesses. Preliminary information suggests the man found dead inside the home, 54-year-old Preston Windus, was shot and killed by his son, 19-year-old Daniel Windus, who afterwards walked outside and into the vehicle where he turned the firearm on himself.
