Phoenix Police are investigating a fatal vehicle collision resulting in one man dead, two others in the hospital.

Officers responded to a serious vehicle collision at 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Street just after 2:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a small white SUV and a red two door vehicle involved in the collision. Officers found a man, later identified as 24-year-old Luis Vitales, on the ground with obvious signs of trauma. The fire department responded and pronounced Vitales deceased on scene. Two women were found inside the two-door vehicle and were transported to the hospital where they are expected to survive their injuries.

Detectives believe the white SUV, driven by Vitales, ran the red light at 35th Avenue while heading eastbound on Roosevelt Street and collided with the red vehicle which was heading northbound on 35th Avenue. Vitales was ejected from the vehicle after the collision occurred.
