Phoenix Police Department detectives are looking for information that can lead them to the identity of a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run collision in west Phoenix on Wednesday night.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to the area of 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road Wednesday night for a serious collision. When officers got to the scene, they found a man, identified as 39-year-old Ray Welch, who was pronounced deceased by responding Phoenix Fire personnel. The driver of the unknown vehicle left the scene west on Buckeye Road.
Detectives learned Welch was walking across Buckeye Road outside of the marked crosswalk when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling west.
