Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an east valley collision which left a man dead.
On December 9, 2023, around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of 41st Street and Thomas Road regarding a collision that resulted in injuries. When officers arrived, they located an adult male driver of a vehicle involved, identified as 55-year-old John Ybarra, with serious injuries. Ybarra was transported to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other vehicle involved remained on scene.
Detectives believe that Ybarra made a left turn in front of the other vehicle involved which resulted in the collision.
