Phoenix police detectives are investigating a hit and run collision that left a pedestrian with critical injuries.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, early Saturday morning, just after 1:30, officers responded to a call of a possible hit and run collision near 51st Avenue and Virginia Avenue involving a pedestrian. An injured man was found lying in the roadway. He was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
Detectives believe the pedestrian was crossing North 51st Avenue mid-block when a vehicle going south on North 51st Avenue struck him. The vehicle did not remain on scene.
