A Maricopa County man wanted on a felony warrant out of Cochise County was arrested last week.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year old Jose Rios-Davila was contacted on November 7, 2023 by members of the Safe Streets task force attempting to conduct a traffic stop. Rios-Davila fled in his vehicle from multiple law enforcement agencies exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour westbound through Palominas.

The vehicle was successfully spiked twice, at milepost 336 by US Border Patrol (USBP) and again at milepost 333 by Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) before leaving the roadway at milepost 332.

The occupants bailed out and ran east into the brush and two undocumented immigrants were located near the highway right-of-way fence.

USBP, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), SVPD, and Tombstone Marshall’s Office (TMO) searched but Rios-Davila was not located. The migrants were released to US Border Patrol for processing.

The investigation continued and a felony warrant was issued for the arrest of Rios-Davila.

On Thursday December 14, 2023, members of the Sheriff’s Office and HSI personnel travelled to Phoenix in search of the wanted person and after several hours they were able to make contact with Rios-Davila and arrest him at his place of employment.

Rios-Davila, a US Citizen, was transported back to Cochise County and booked on felony Human Smuggling charges with additional charges possibly pending.
