Mohave County Sheriff’s Office detectives are currently investigating a fire that resulted in the discovery of a deceased victim in Yucca on Wednesday, December 27.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:13 p.m., dispatch received a call of a fire in the 1700 block of La Cienega Ranch Rd. Deputies arrived on scene and found two sheds fully engulfed by flames. Fire personnel from Golden Valley Fire District responded to the scene and after the fire was extinguished, a deceased victim was located inside one of the sheds.

Deputies made contact with the homeowner, who told them that she and her male roommate had been in a verbal altercation earlier in the evening when he left the residence on foot. Several hours later she received a notification from her camera system that motion was detected near the shed and she believed the roommate was back on the property. Approximately 30 minutes later another motion alert notified her of the fire in the shed.

An initial review of camera footage from the property indicates no signs of foul play.

The deceased victim was conveyed by the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and positive identification. The investigation is ongoing.
