Woman Killed While Standing In The Middle Of Phoenix Road

Phoenix police investigating a fatal collision that occurred early this morning that left a woman, Michelle Soto, dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a serious vehicle collision at 67th and Clarendon Avenues around 6:00 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a tan SUV and a woman lying on the roadway. The fire department responded and provided medical aid to the woman, later identified as the 26-year-old Soto.

Fire personnel later determined Soto died from her injuries on scene.

Detectives learned Soto was standing in the roadway, and outside a crosswalk, when she was struck by the SUV as it was heading southbound on 67th Avenue. The driver of the SUV was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment. The investigation remains active as investigators continue to process the evidence.
