Since this is an election year, it is safe to assume that legislators will be in a hurry to get their job done and go home to campaign. Judging from the level of activity, that assumption seems correct. Another reason for the mad dash is the fact that we have two deadlines approaching, the last day to introduce bills, and the last day to hear bills in committees of the chamber of origin.
Many good bills advanced this week, but two important ones did not.
HB2120 – law enforcement; defunding; prohibition This defunding-the-police nonsense has been going on for some time, with disastrous results. Every community that defunds, overregulates, or otherwise harasses law enforcement personnel is experiencing upticks in criminal activity. Unfortunately, HB2120 was held in committee.
SB1064 – gasoline formulations; air quality. This is a legislative effort by our legislature to avoid the obscene gasoline prices we experienced during the 2023 summer, partially as a result of Hobbs’ socialist agenda. We reported on this project HERE. This bill was held also.
Here is a full list of the bills we are tracking that saw action this week:

Next week promises to be even busier than this. There will be action taken on some very important bills, dealing with education, elections, and law enforcement, among others. Here is a complete list of bills we are tracking and will see action next week.
