After months of continued investigations, Phoenix Police Department detectives have arrested 30-year-old William Murray for his
involvement in the shooting death of Brandon Smith. Murray has been identified as the business employee originally detained on scene by responding officers.
Murray was booked into MSCO jail for 2nd Degree Murder.
On December 16, 2023, just before 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting near 1700 North 44th Street at a car wash. Officers found Brandon Smith suffering a gunshot wound. Mr. Smith was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officers on scene learned an altercation took place between Murray and Smith.
