Phoenix Food Truck Vendor Killed In Late Night Brawl

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a stabbing that left a man dead after a late-night brawl.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 17, 2024, around 11:35 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing outside a business near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street. When they arrived, officers found Heriberto Acosta suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The fire department arrived and rushed the 41-year-old Acosta to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives learned Acosta was a food truck vendor and was in the process of closing down for the night when a vehicle pulled into the parking lot. Multiple men got out of the vehicle and a fight began between the men and the food truck employees. During the fight, Acosta was stabbed multiple times, by one of the men, before they got back into the vehicle and left.

Currently, the motive for the attack is unknown. The investigation remains active.
