Evening Collision Leaves Phoenix Jaywalker Dead

Phoenix police detectives investigated the death of a pedestrian, Brittnee Joyce Cook, who was struck by a car while crossing mid-block just north of 19th Avenue and Turney Avenue.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, at approximately 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to 4400 North 19th Avenue for a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Investigators learned that Cook was jaywalking when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on 19th Avenue. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver remained on scene and impairment is not believed to be a factor.
