Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an early evening collision that resulted in a woman’s death.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on March 7, 2024, around 5:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of 1000 East Telegraph Pass Road on South Mountain regarding a collision where a vehicle rolled over.  When officers arrived, they located two injured juvenile children.  They were both transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  A female, 31-year-old Helena River, was also located having suffered serious injuries.  She did not survive these injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.  Only one vehicle was involved in this collision.

Detectives believe that the vehicle involved was northbound on Telegraph Pass Road at a high rate of speed when Ms. River lost control and exited the roadway.  The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest.  Information gathered leads detectives to believe that alcohol is a factor in this collision.
