Jaywalker Killed In South Phoenix Collision

Phoenix Police detectives responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and an SUV in south Phoenix on Tuesday night.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on March 26, 2024, officers were called to a collision in the area of 1st Street and Broadway Road. As officers got to the scene, they found a 55-year-old pedestrian, identified as Anthony Olivas suffering from serious injuries. Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and took Olivas to the hospital for emergency care. While being treated at the hospital Olivas died as a result of his injuries. The adult driver of the SUV stayed on scene and showed no signs of impairment.

Detectives learned that Olivas was attempting to walk across Broadway Road outside of any marked crosswalks when he was struck by an SUV driving west.
