Southside Phoenix Shooting Leaves Two Dead, One Hospitalized

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man in the hospital and two others dead.

On April 13, 2024, around 2:45 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 19th Avenue and Roeser Road regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located two adult males with at least one gunshot wound identified as 19-year-old Elijah Sanchez and 38-year-old Lucio Lopez Segura. Sanchez was pronounced deceased on scene while Segura was transported to a nearby hospital. He also did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. An additional adult male victim was located near the original scene also with at least one gunshot wound. This man was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening-injuries and remains in the hospital in critical condition. A fourth man was contacted on scene, uninjured, although he was determined to be involved.

Detectives responded to assume the investigation. Preliminary information regarding this shooting suggests that the four men were involved in an altercation which led to an exchange of gunfire, resulting in both Sanchez and Segura to lose their lives and leaving the third victim injured. The man detained was interviewed and released pending further investigation.
