Phoenix Woman Stabs, Kills 75-Year-Old Relative

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a stabbing that left a woman dead and another woman, 27-year-old Icess Woodcox, in jail.

On April 14, 2024, around 1:45 p.m., Woodcox contacted officers at a Phoenix Police Department Precinct and told them that she had stabbed another woman inside of a residence located near 49th Drive and Lewis Avenue. Officers located the home and when they entered they found 75-year-old Ruby Pittman, with at least one stab wound.

Ms. Pittman did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives responded to assume the investigation and Woodcox again made admissions about being responsible for the murder of Ms. Pittman. The two are family members but the specific relationship is not available for release.
