Phoenix Pedestrian Killed While Pushing Shopping Cart In Road

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a collision that left a pedestrian dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on April 23, 2024, around 5:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of 35th Avenue and Whitton Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located the adult male pedestrian with serious injuries. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived and attempted life saving measures, however the man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The vehicles involved remained on scene after the collision

Detectives believe that the pedestrian was in the roadway pushing a shopping cart when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on 35th Avenue. The shopping cart, and its contents, were displaced into southbound traffic where it struck another vehicle.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.
